Beer Veal Brisket

Guila Sandroussy

I made this veal back for Shavuot and never got to properly write a recipe and share it. I found it scribbled in my notes and remembered how good it was so i got to work!

veal brisket

  • 1.5 kg Veal Brisket

  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced

  • 3 tbsp oil

  • 1 cup beer

  • 1/4 cup maple syrup

  • 4 garlic cloves, sliced

  • 3 bay leaves

  • 1.5 tsp salt

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Preheat oven to 300 F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place your brisket in.

  2. Start by heating a pan over medium high heat. Add oil and saute onions until soft and dark. Add beer, maple syrup and garlic. Saute for a few more minutes.

  3. Pour sauce over brisket. Add bay leaves and salt.

  4. Cover and bake for 8-8.5 hours. Keep checking and basting it. Once a fork goes in easily, its ready.

  5. Cool before slicing.
